The largest progressive group of veterans in America, with over 400,000 supporters, VoteVets.org, is today raising questions about the recent $10,000 donation to Governor John Kasich’s campaign, from former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld.
Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets.org said, “Donald Rumsfeld sent me, and tens of thousands of other uniformed military into war with Iraq, completely unprepared and undersupplied. He then said, infamously, that is wasn’t his fault because, ‘You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want.’ If that’s the kind of attitude that Governor Kasich wants to associate with, then I sympathize with Ohioans who seek to improve the state, and tackle problems, and get told by their Governor that they’re going to just have to live with the state they have.”
Founded in 2006, and backed by over 400,000 supporters, the mission of VoteVets.org is to use public issue campaigns and direct outreach to lawmakers to ensure that troops abroad have what they need to complete their missions, and receive the care they deserve when they get home. VoteVets.org also recognizes veterans as a vital part of the fabric of our country and will work to protect veterans’ interests in their day-to-day lives. VoteVets.org is committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world – with force when necessary – to protect America. While non-partisan, the group is the largest progressive organization of veterans in America.
