After their two previous attacks were debunked as misleading and flat out lies, the RGA launched another attack on Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ed FitzGerald this morning, claiming “it’s clear that, as a result of FitzGerald’s incompetence as the head of Cuyahoga County, taxpayer dollars have been wasted.”
In reality, FitzGerald has reduced the County’s total operating expenditures by tens of millions of dollars – reducing bureaucratic waste and saving taxpayer dollars.
FACT CHECK: In 2010, the operating expenditures for the county were nearly $433 million. Upon taking office in 2011, expenditures for the year dropped to $327 million. The 2013 budget shows nearly $362 million in expenditures – 16% below when FitzGerald started. [Cuyahoga County Approved Budget Update, 12/11/2012]
