Yesterday was a great day for the voters of the state of Ohio and a bad day for my opponent.  We all found out that the occurrence of voter fraud was less common than some would lead us to believe.

In addition to the fact that only 270, or .00004821%, of 5.6 million ballots cast in the 2012 Election were referred to prosecutors due to voting irregularities, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported yesterday that most cases resulted from confusion by voters or mistakes by elections officials not criminal intent.  Even Jon Husted, who continues to create solutions to a problem that doesn’t exist, was forced to admit that voter fraud is “rare.” Instead of costly litigation, our chief elections officer should be more concerned with increased education, more reliable voting machines and an updated voting records system.

Adding to my opponent’s bad day, yesterday U.S. District Court Judge Michael H. Watson blocked the implementation of Senate Bill 193, which would have limited access to the ballot box and was championed by Jon Husted. This is the second time the court has denied my opponent’s attempts to restrict access to the ballot box.  Clearly his priorities are not what Ohio voters need!  Visit here to read article about Federal court admonishing Ohio’s Secretary of State for unconstitutional changes.

Ohioans deserve a Secretary of State who doesn’t make decisions based on political calculus.  As Secretary of State, I will work tirelessly to ensure that Ohioans have fair and equitable access to the ballot. “One Woman, One Man… ONE Vote!”
